Arete the aggregate of qualities , as valor and virthe , making up good character. Socrates so the qulities arete how he was a very well respected scholar and war hero. Also how he was very well know for his teaching. There is words in the definition that decribe him like valor how he fought in the  many wars. But he did have good character he was a nice person and a great scholar and teacher. Also how he ask and got  people to think for them self and question  the government and. The god if they where real but he did't go around telling people that the god are not real. He just ask what they thought but doing that he got aressted. For crimes against the god so he was put on trail. He could defined himself , say  he sorry, or die. He was well respected a lot of people in the government and not want him to say he was sorry , and that shows that the people of greces also have arete. But he went up and said if anything you should be thanking he for teaching the people of greces. So the people in the trail voted and he died buy drinking posien. But he will aways be rembered as a great war hero and scholar.
